The Montane Yukon Arctic Ultra has three different levels of Sponsorship – Diamond, Gold and Supporting Sponsorship. For detailed information please see our Sponsor Info section.
Montane is a company owned and run by people with a passion for outdoor performance sports in challenging and inspiring places. Whether running or biking, hiking or climbing the characteristics required from performance clothing are the same.
LIGHTWEIGHT … By reducing weight and pack size of all Montane clothing to the lowest achievable levels, the outdoor experience is further enhanced. Less energy is wasted carrying your clothing and more space is available for other essential items like food or equipment.
AND BREATHABLE … In all active-use outdoor situations the essential requirement of comfortable clothing is to prevent the weather entering your clothing, and at the same time allow your sweat and excess body heat to easily escape.
If you want to find out more about Montane please check out their website www.montane.co.uk.

Having the right kit for a race like the Montane Yukon Arctic Ultra is essential. Therefore, from the beginning a lot of athletes have asked me for recommendations. Not long before I came to the conclusion that it makes sense to start selling gear in order to build a solid base for my company.

Driving Force is Whitehorse’s leading provider of quality rental cars, trucks and SUV’s. Getting around the Yukon can be a complicated business, especially in the extreme conditions of a northern winter. Reliable, sturdy vehicles are the order of the day as we make our way between the remote checkpoints and oversee the demands and safety of the staff and racers who are scattered along the racecourse. We really enjoy the great cars and service of Driving Force as the official supplier of vehicles for the Yukon Arctic Ultra. They also have a great choice of vehicles for the summer! For more information on rates and leasing, please have a look at www.drivingforce.ca.

As early as 1976, a Fairbanks to Whitehorse race had been talked of. But it wasn’t until a conversation between Roger Williams, Leroy Shank, Ron Rosser and Willie Libb in the Bull’s Eye Saloon, in Fairbanks in 1983, that it became more than an idea. They decided to name the race the “Yukon Quest” to commemorate the Yukon River , the old highway of the north. The trail would trace the path that the prospectors followed to reach the Alaskan interior from the Klondike during the 1898 gold rush. The first race tested both race logistics and the talents of all involved. Twenty-six teams left Fairbanks that February day in 1984. Over the next 16 days, 20 teams made it to Whitehorse , with six teams forced to drop out along the way. Sonny Lindner became the first Quest champion, completing the race in 12 days. The rest is history. For more information on the world’s toughest sled dog race please go to www.yukonquest.com.
From 2018 the Montane Yukon Arctic Ultra Marathon Finish and first checkpoint will be at Muktuk Adventures! It is a great place for the organising team, athletes and local supporters to be. Not only is it very exciting to be at the kennel that was started by Yukon Quest legend Frank Turner and his wife Anne Tayler in 1995. Frank also happens to be one of the first to support our race – at a time when many thought that it is a bit “crazy”.
Participants and visitors will be able to see how a professional kennel and tourist operation is set up. And the huskies not out on a tour that day will certainly enjoy getting the attention of those of us who love dogs. All athletes who want to go mushing before or after the MYAU will also get a 20% discount from Muktuk Adventures. It’s a great way to see the trail and experience this very traditional mode of transport.

More than a century ago, a gold rush put Atlin on the map. Now this remote, beautiful town in northern British Columbia is experiencing a new resource boom: wood-heat roasted coffee!
Whether you prefer your brew dark, medium, or light, the Atlin Mountain Coffee Roastery offers coffee as wild and full of character as the place it is roasted. No chemicals, pesticides, or blending: just organic, fairly traded, single-origin beans brought to perfection in the Canadian wilderness.
We love coffee, and we love the outdoors. The environmental and social ethos of our roastery reflects these values. Our unique wood-fired roaster uses local pine as fuel, harvested sustainably and split by hand. By roasting with radiant heat, beans avoid contact with smoke.
The result? Fresh, artisanal coffee made with ethical beans and renewable energy. Going off-grid has never tasted so good.
